see, the thing about being a man is not so much about maturing physically and taking on the role of the manly macho guy with less sensitivity and perpetually emanating and/or oozing testosterone. it is about growing up. it is about growing out of the childish immaturity that with we use to carry ourselves, and realising our responsibilities as whoever we are to ourselves, and whoever we are to others around us. as mr boy once told us, "Don't just grow old. Grow up." I think he hit the nail on the head. it is true that growing old does not guarantee that one grows up as well. Being a man carries similar sentiments in that one should realise his role as either a brother, a son, a soldier, a student, or even a human being. And after realising his roles, one should be able to reciprocate in terms of fulfilling his responsibilities as whoever he has, or will, become. It doesn't matter if you are a man of power, you should still have that decency as a member of your own household to clean up after yourself and do your own laundry. to most people, this may sound trivial. however, these people need to realise that it all stems from the littlest things, such as cleaning up after youself, and anyone can tell if you're really "being a man" from the way you do these things. you really cannot expect your duties to fulfill themselves.
to end off, I'd like to quote a well-loved comedian, "Be a man. Do the right thing."
Ladies, you too.
